Past Workshops (No Current Dates Available):
Succulent Terrarium Workshop at Shady Oak Barrel House
Are you fascinated by succulents, but haven't had the best luck keeping them alive? Or are you an avid gardener just looking for a new project? Either way, this workshop is for you!
In this creative workshop, get your hands dirty while learning about how to design with and care for succulents. Pick from a huge selection of plants and make a beautiful glass orb terrarium, with demonstrations and hands-on help. You'll practically be a terrarium guru by the time you leave!
Your workshop ticket includes one drink from the bar (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) at Shady Oak Barrel House, where the workshop will be hosted! Must be 21+ to enjoy a boozy beverage :)
Succulent Pumpkin Workshop
Create a beautiful succulent pumpkin table centerpiece that will last throughout the fall season!
In this workshop, we'll answer all your questions about how to care for succulents. You'll make a succulent pumpkin, like the one pictured, and leave with care information for the succulent cuttings that are used in the design. Once the pumpkin starts to fade or after you've put away your fall decor, you can plant the cuttings!
Pumpkins are not included in your ticket. Please bring a pumpkin that is at least 12” across. DO NOT CUT OPEN YOUR PUMPKIN! We are gluing cuttings to the top of the pumpkin and will not be cutting it open; this way your pumpkin will last for months instead of going bad quickly
"This class was so therapeutic. I could have spent the whole day making multiple terrariums. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone and everyone. It's a ton of fun and very informative." - Jonny, San Francisco
Macrame Plant Hanger Workshop
Are you in love with macrame plants hangers and wall hangings, which are a modern twist on a retro classic? Well in this workshop, you’ll get to make a stylish plant hanger for your favorite leafy friend that will wow everyone who sees it.
Each student will learn how to tie basic macrame knots and how to create a structure to hold your favorite plant pot. Learning how to tie new knots can be frustrating without the right instruction, so we provide lots of hands-on help as you learn! You'll leave with a completed plant hanger and a handout with photos and instructions, so you can turn macrame into your new favorite hobby!
This workshop is 2 hours long and all materials are provided.
Pottery & Planting Workshop
Join us at Petaluma Pottery and Flourish for a two day workshop. Day 1 (April 27th, 9am-1pm) you will make your own planters using a variety of hand building techniques. Each student will learn the ins and outs of working with clay to make several planters. Up to five pieces will be fired and delivered to you the follow week at Flourish for Day 2 (May 4th, 11:30am-1pm), where you will choose your favorite two planters to plant, one with a houseplant and one with succulents. You will learn to sow and care for your plants.
This workshop includes clay, glazes, and firing. The cost also includes the cost of plants for the two planters you will work on at Flourish with the option to purchase additional plants if desired.
You are encouraged to bring your own pottery tools on Day 1, although some tools are available through the studio and basic tool kits are available for purchase in the studio for $12
